About Us

Join us on the road to save good food from ending up in the landfill and eliminate food insecurity

Doing the Work

40% of food produced is wasted, while 1 in 8 people face food insecurity. This is a solvable problem, and Tamiami Food Rescue is here to make it happen. We use technology and volunteer power to rescue good food before it’s wasted and connect it to the nonprofits feeding our community.

Located in Sarasota, Florida, Tamiami Food Rescue strives to connect Florida and end food insecurity. Stay tuned for expansion.

What is the Tamiami Trail?

The Tamiami Trail is a historic route that connects Tampa and Miami, Florida via U.S. Highway Route 41. Back in the day, this highway was considered a feat of civil engineering. Prior to the start of this project in 1915, people traveled to south Florida by boat. This highway enabled travel across the state.

We hope to use the Tamiami Trail’s original mission by connecting Florida, to end food insecurity across our great state.
